You can make the Difference

Council members Susan Wilson and Elvi DeLotto are pleased to announce that through a grant, received from Monroe County, the Borough of Delaware Water Gap is working to develop a Village Study which will sustain the traditional look and feel of the Borough, improve and ensure continued safety for life and property, promote appropriate community development, and maintain a high quality of life.

The study area for this project will focus on the primary commercial corridor within the Borough. It will include Main Street (Route 611) from the Deer Head Inn to Broad Street, and Broad Street from the intersection with Main Street to Interstate 80.

A vital proponent of this process is the involvement of the local community. The Borough and the professional consultants, Stacy Yoder and Judy Stern Goldstein of Boucher & James, Inc. will host at least two public meetings to gain input from residents and stakeholders. The first public meeting will be held on November 13th at the Church of the Mountain at 7:00 p.m. to inform the community of the project and gather public opinions regarding the vision for the Borough's commercial corridor. The second public meeting will be held toward the end of the process to present the draft plan and solicit additional input.

In order to be a working document that promotes change within the Borough the plan must reflect the needs and desires of the local community. Council encourages all residents and interested parties to get involved with this process to ensure a valuable product.
